USS New York (LPD 21)

On Sept. 22, 2009, Dawnbreaker, Inc. was awarded a Rochester Business Ethics Award (RBEA). [ RBEA video] The RBEA is a regional annual award program that recognizes local companies that exemplify high standards of ethical behavior in their everyday business practices and in response to crises or challenges.

Just after receiving the RBEA, Dawnbreaker was contacted concerning an opportunity to formally congratulate the U.S. Navy for the commissioning of the USS New York - the LPD 21 that was built using several tons of steel from the World Trade Center. "Because of our ten year relationship with the Navy this seemed to be a natural fit and led our board to an idea of a fitting memento to celebrate the honor of the RBEA with the entire staff," said Dr. Jenny Servo company president.

The commissioning of the USS New York-which not only honors the memory of those who survived and those perished at the World Trade Center, but is also meant to forge an enduring alliance between the people of NY, the ship and her crew-was scheduled to take place in New York Harbor on Nov. 7, 2009. With Dawnbreaker's home base in New York state and the company's history with the U.S. Navy, the company's Board of Directors felt that providing a day trip to New York City to tour the USS New York while it was in harbor would be a special, memorable way to thank employees for the efforts they put forth for Dawnbreaker and its clients, including the Navy.

Staff members toured the ship during the second week of November. Images from this unforgettable visit can be seen to the left. Our Code of Ethics and the congratulatory ad prepared for the U. S. Navy League publication are included
