What are the current renewable energy stats for Egypt?

Egypt has installed 365 megawatts of wind power, 55 megawatts within the last year. More growth is expected as a result of Egypt’s ambitious renewable energy goals, which expect 12% of Egypt’s total energy production to come from wind turbines. About 400 megawatts of new wind farms will be built by the private sector every year, with about 200 megawatts per year of new construction coming from the national government.[1]

Egypt has pledged to use renewable energy for 20% of the country’s energy use by 2020. This energy will primarily come from several wind farms in the country.[2] At a planned 12% of total energy production, Egypt would be investing in about 7200 megawatts of grid-connected windfarms.[3]
