What are some of the energy best practices exchanged among member states?

National overall targets are derived with Member States’ full involvement to start with. This consists of agreement on the contribution that the 27 EU Member States have to make in order to reach the target and adapting the legislative framework to allow an adequate monitoring of the new commitments.

In this respect, Europe’s leading countries in the renewable energy sector (such as Germany, Spain and Denmark) have founded the IFIC (International Feed-In Cooperation, 2004) and IRENA (International Renewable Energy Agency, 2007). Both organizations aim to work independently compared to the International Energy Agency (IEA) www.iea.org/, which is an organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) organization www.oecd.org/.
