What are some of the advantages of wind energy use?

Wind energy is a clean fuel source, so it does not pollute the air as do power plants that rely on fossil fuels, such as coal or natural gas. WTGs don't produce atmospheric emissions that cause acid rain or greenhouse gasses. It is a domestic source of energy, with an abundant supply, that has the obvious advantage of renewability.

In terms of economics, wind energy is one of today’s most affordable renewable energy technologies, with a cost that hovers between 4 and 6 cents per kWh, depending upon the particular project. Wind farms can be beneficial to rural economies, where most of the best wind sites are found. Since the WTGs only use a fraction of the land, farmers can still utilize their land agriculturally while also receiving rent from the WTG operators. [1]
