Resource Sponsors and Technology Areas

As the organization "responsible for an identifiable aggregation of resources that constitute inputs to warfare and supporting tasks," each area of technology development within the Navy has a corresponding OPNAV Resource Sponsor. The US Marine Corps (USMC) is organized outside of OPNAV; the USMC's Department of Programs & Resources is roughly equivalent. Major OPNAV resource sponsors are listed in the table below and may be helpful in deriving who the resource sponsor may be for your technology area. You should confirm your conclusion with your TPOC. However, often the TPOC may also be unaware of who the appropriate resource sponsor may be.
