Technology roadmapping is a form of technology planning which facilitates communication among stakeholders. The stakeholders can exist within a company; within an industry; or relative to a DoD platform. Roadmaps come in a variety of formats, and each is created to meet a specific need.
A technology roadmap is the document generated by the technology road-mapping process. It identifies (for a specific product, industry, or platform) the critical system requirements, the product and process performance targets, and the technology alternatives and milestones for meeting those targets.
