Established in February 2010, the Office of the Chief Technologist (OCT) is responsible for developing and executing technology partnerships, technology transfer, and commercial activities, and serves as NASA’s technology point of entry and contact with other government agencies, academia, and the commercial aerospace community. The OCT directly manages all of NASA's Space Technology programs, as well as coordinates and tracks all technology investments across the agency. A new FY 2011 budget line, the Space Technology program funds 10 technology development and innovation programs through the following three (3) divisions:
The Space Technology Program builds upon the success of the Innovative Partnerships Program (IPP), which was integrated into the OCT’s Space Technology Program beginning in FY 2011. Further information on programs managed by each of the divisions may be found under Funding.
