Education

The Office of Education provides strategic management of NASA’s education portfolio along with participation from the four Mission Directorates and all ten NASA Centers. The agency’s three major education goals are to: 1) strengthen the Nation's and NASA’s future workforce, 2) attract and retain students in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines, and 3) engage Americans in NASA's mission. Each Mission Directorate is responsible for embedding education components into their R&D programs and flight missions, as well as for administering mission directorate-funded, discipline -specific activities, and for ensuring collaboration between the NASA science/engineering and education communities. Each Center has an Education Office responsible for implementing NASA education programs, projects, and activities for Mission Directorates and the Office of Education. Center Education Offices plan and implement Center-funded education projects, and provide expertise in state standards and requirements for K-12 education in their area of geographic responsibility, as well as provide input for planning education programs.
